Ealing Council secured bids from several developers for one of its priority sites, thanks to Sitematch London.

Sitematch London held its first one-day "speed-dating" event at London’s City Hall on 1 March, with developers holding focused discussions with councils on development opportunities.

"At Sitematch London one of the sites I had meetings about was Acton Town Hall, a council-owned building that we were about to dispose of," said Ealing Council assistant director regeneration and planning, Lucy Taylor.

"Three companies I met at Sitematch have gone on to make offers on the site and the council is assessing the offers.

"The opportunity to provide information on developments face to face at Sitematch definitely generated extra interest in the building."

In the weeks following the initial introduction, Taylor chased the developers, met them for a second time before taking them on site visits to Acton Town Hall.

She added: "If you really want their interest you have to distract them from other opportunities and that means keeping the conversation going, building the relationship and reinforcing your messages about the opportunity."
