Opportunity of the week: Sandringham mews

One of Ealing Councilís upcoming development opportunities is Sandringham Mews, located just off The Broadway in Ealing town centre.

The site covers 0.63 hectares and is currently owned by multiple private owners – although the majority is in one ownership. The site was the location of Lamertons, a furniture store and removal firm, but is currently occupied by a number of shops, cafes, restaurants and a surface level car park.

The site is located adjacent to Ealing Broadway shopping centre, the site of the proposed Ealing Filmworks scheme and opposite Dickens Yard. With a PTAL rating of six, the site benefits from excellent public transport accessibility. Ealing Broadway station is a short walk away, and is connected to the District and Central underground lines, as well as direct rail lines to Paddington, Heathrow, Oxford and Reading stations. With Crossrail arriving late 2019, central London will be a 15-minute ride away.

Mixed-use development proposals are sought for the site including retail, cafes and/or restaurants. Upper floor levels are suitable for residential use, as well as offices and studios. The site provides the opportunity to create a connecting route between the High Street and Bond Street and into the proposed Filmworks development improving permeability for pedestrians. The council will expect to see this route through any proposed development created.

The site is located within the Ealing Town Centre conservation area, and just across the road is the grade II-listed Christ the Saviour parish church.
