Placemaker Grosvenor Britain and Ireland has struck a deal with Transport for London (TfL), to develop an office building above the new Bond Street Elizabeth line (formerly Crossrail) station.

The 6000sq m building will sit above the western ticket hall, and has room for 650 workers across six floors.

Craig McWilliam, chief executive of Grosvenor, said: "By opening up London, Crossrail will bring a wealth of new opportunities for the West End and we are responding by investing in the creation of new employment space at what will be one of London's best-connected addresses."

Graeme Craig, director of commercial development at TfL, added: "The Elizabeth line is set to redefine travel across our city and it's fantastic to see the sites above some of the major central London stations progressing. These schemes will result in income of around £500 million and this will be reinvested in our transport network."

TfL has pledged that the Elizabeth line will bring further improvements to surrounding public areas on Davies Street and Weighhouse Street.
